Live in Singapore and want to see Johor Bahru homes in person? Tell me your budget and what you are looking for, and I will line up a short list of units for one weekend day. I meet you at JB Sentral, or just after you clear the Causeway checkpoint, and drive you from viewing to viewing.
How it works
- Message me with your preferred date, budget, the areas or type of home you have in mind, and whether you are a Singapore citizen, PR or Malaysian. This decides which units you can buy (see the Johor minimum price for foreigners).
- I prepare a short list of units that fit, check that they can be viewed on that day, and send you the list before you come so you can drop any that do not appeal.
- We meet in JB. I pick you up at JB Sentral, which is linked to the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar checkpoint, at a time we agree.
- We view the units, usually in the same area or two nearby areas so you spend your time inside homes rather than in traffic. I go through the costs, the building and the paperwork as we go.
- Afterwards I send you a summary of each unit with the price and the full costs in ringgit and S$, so you can compare at home.
Getting across
- Bring your passport, with at least six months’ validity.
- Cross early on a Saturday or Sunday morning if you can. The Causeway is usually busiest on Friday evenings, Sunday evenings and around public holidays.
- You can cross by bus to the checkpoint and walk to JB Sentral, or by KTM Shuttle Tebrau from Woodlands. The RTS Link between Woodlands North and Bukit Chagar is now expected to open in February 2027 (see my RTS Link article).
- Message me when you have cleared immigration so I can meet you at the agreed spot.
Areas we can cover in a day
- JB Sentral and Bukit Chagar: walking distance to the checkpoint and the future RTS station.
- JB city centre and Danga Bay: a short drive from the Causeway.
- Mount Austin and Tebrau: popular with families, further from the checkpoint, so allow more time in traffic.
- Iskandar Puteri and Puteri Harbour: closer to the Second Link, for people working in western Singapore.
Trying to see all of these in one day is tiring. I usually suggest one or two areas per trip.
